House Jam
I've had this song stuck in my head for awhile now. Normally I was never a big fan of Gang Gang Dance, but their latest album is a super fun and interesting listen. This remix simply loops and chops the intro sample over a rolling mellow synth house beat. XXXchange did a great remix of this tune ( with vocals and all ) you can grab here.

MY WHINEY VALENTINE
I went to see My Bloody Valentine perform their second of two sold out shows here in LA. This was the first time I've ever seen them, and of course it was awesome. At the end, they did their wall of sound aural attack during " You made me realize," which seemed to divide the crowd in half, between the real fans, and the people that were more concerned with getting out of the parking lot before the other guy. The kind of person who leaves a baseball game early when it could still go either way. They basically play all their instruments as hard as they can for 20 minutes straight at the highest volume legally agreed to in their contracts, only to dive back seamlessly into a final chorus and end of the song out of nowhere. For a band who plays moody shoegaze tunes, this is by far their best way of saying "fuck you we are still awesome, " It made me think of a Silver Mt. Zion song called " This is our punk rock, " My Bloody Valentine's way of being punk rock. It made me happy to see this happening in 2008 still, go figure it was from a band of people approaching their 50's.

RADIOHEAD REMIX
Via Wikipedia
"Reckoner" is a song by English alternative rock band Radiohead and is the seventh track on their 2007 album In Rainbows. The song will be released as the fourth single from In Rainbows on 23 September 2008[1]. It will be released through the Radiohead Remix website in the form of 'stems', individual parts of the song (e.g. vocals, guitar, piano) for fans to remix, as with "Nude". The band had James Holden and Diplo create the first remixes of "Reckoner"
In 2001 Radiohead performed a song named "Reckoner" in George, WA[3]. This song, also known as 'Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses' after a part of the lyrics, was a fast-paced, 'thrashy' rock song. In 2005, at a Trade Justice Movement rally where he also played "Nude," Radiohead singer Thom Yorke performed this version of "Reckoner" on acoustic guitar. Yorke was later asked about the band's plans for "Reckoner", and he declared it "dead and buried." The song, in either form, was not played on the 2006 Radiohead tour where most In Rainbows material was introduced live. However, the song title was included in the final track listing of their seventh album.
"Reckoner" on In Rainbows seems to bear little resemblance to the earlier incarnation of the song. When the album came out in October 2007, critics and listeners who had heard both versions remarked that the recorded version of "Reckoner" was calmer, taking the form of a ballad sung in falsetto, with dominant percussion and insistent, softer guitar riffs, and entirely different lyrics. Late in 2007, members of Radiohead gave an interview to BBC Radio 1 in which they explained that the new "Reckoner" in fact came out of an attempt to record the earlier song with that title. Late in the sessions, Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood tried adding a coda to the original version of the song, and eventually the band decided to abandon everything except the new coda, which became "Reckoner."
In the interview where he explained the song's construction, Yorke also said the lyrics of "Reckoner" were the most important on In Rainbows for him.

The dude of dudes Mike2600 ( great dj, great designer, and also helped bless the world with seminal graffiti / r&b magazine lifesucksdie ) has a new blog dedicated to graphic design things from the 60s-80s... aka tons of fly shit. Do check it!
KNEWYAWWK
Right now I'm sitting on my deck drinking some sleepytime tea and having a pomegranate hookah while my roomate intentionally burns a turkey on our bbq for a cellphone company photoshoot. I have to wake up at 4:30 to catch the first flight out to New York ( luckily I've got Virgin America ) but with my luck the TV screens will be out, and I'll get another coupon for a free drink on my next flight. I'm spinning at BLVD tomorrow with two awesome dudes Stretch Armstrong and Nick Catchdubs... two dudes I rarely see, but coincidentally hung out with both of them last week, on separate occasions. I'm excited to play NY...it's been awhile for sure.

YEAH YEAH MAN
Today I went to the driving range and hit some balls with dan oh and jimmy jael... I think its gonna be a completely regular event for me from now on... I also saw two grown men fighting in the street on beverly and reno, which prompted us to discuss our futures as mixed martial arts fighters. Soon the three of us will try to roll tires down the street. last night at cinespace Kap Bambino kinda blew me away.. the sound like ska/oi electronic music... atari teenage riots meets x ray spex...Blaqstarr sang some acapella songs about explicitly doing it with your girl with his dingaling... epic. You should roll here friday night.. brother reade is gonna do some new shit with their drums and im gonna try to keep up with em. Also I'm going to Australia september 6th... if you live there and know of any parties going on in sydney around that date, please let me know.

THEM JEANS IS MILE HIGH
Denver if you're out there, come say hi to me tonight! All the info is on the flyer right there -->
I'm afraid of hittin the mountains because I usually get altitude sickness and either get really shitty feeling, or just faint. One time when I was a youth I had to walk up a steep ass hill somewhere in the baby mountains of Socal... I passed out and rolled down that bitch. Hopefully that doesn't happen again.

RIVERSIDE
I'm going to Riverside California to DJ tonight. Riverside is the 61st largest city in the United States. The last time I drove there, I got caught in a small tornado on the way home, a shopping cart almost crashed into me in the middle of the freeway. Riverside is home to rock band Alien Ant Farm, and Barry Bonds. The singer for the band Evanesence is from Riverside too ( no surprise there ) as well as rapper Skee Lo, who now works at the Kinkos on Wilshire.

STEED LORD
American Apparel party was funny. Sebastien Tellier Live = Amazing.
He laid on top of his grand piano like Marilyn Monroe with his pink socks in the air singing some ballads, he also jacked off and performed oral activities on the business end of his mic stand, all the while chain smoking parliaments the whole time. When he was done I threw on November Rain and got the fudge out. Seeya @ Cinespace tomorrow catch huggs in the lounge with his shirt off wilding to some disco jams.

So sunday I'll be perfoming before and after Sebastien Tellier at the American Apparel Party downtown. You can check the flyer right over there ======>
I'm definitely a big fan of the dude especially on the Steak Soundtrack, and his new album. Heres some songs I like.
Dizzness
Ima B there with dan oh and a camera. They wouldn't let me take pictures at hercules and the love affair last night so I still have the itch to take photos of a live performance of some kind. Upon further inspection of this flyer, I've noticed there is free colt 45, which means I'm gonna be probs wilding with Daymeon.

PDX / SEATAC
I went up to the gloomy pacific northwest a couple days ago for some gigs, one of em with my good buddy pase ( who I'm pretty sure gave me a cold. ) We stayed at the lovely Ace hotel, our rooms looked like urban outfitters displays, but rooms were only $95 a night with free internet, and have a corn chips!
The folks over at the Cream Team blog had some really nice things to say about my new sigur ros remix so check it out! Also a really nice looking blog for checking on the regz anyway.
